The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) hosted representatives from the international humanitarian organization, Global Support and Development (GSD); whose mission is “to work with local, national, and regional communities for resilience to crisis through rapid response, disaster preparedness, and climate adaptation”. The consultations which began on Tuesday 13th January and concluded on Thursday 15th January, 2026 at NEMO’s headquarters, Old Montrose, included national level stakeholders (public and private sector) with a role and/or interest in Comprehensive Disaster Management in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Director of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) Michelle Forbes, said the transformation at the Belmont Observatory facility is "remarkable".
This, as the newly renovated and retrofitted Volcano Observatory was handed over. The observatory project was financed through a concessional loan provided by the World Bank. The total cost of the project amounted to EC$4.696 million. Construction commenced in March 2024 and was completed in December 2025 due to delays caused by weather and other unforeseen factors.

The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) has officially taken possession of its newly retrofitted and expanded warehouse facility following a handing-over ceremony held in Campden Park on Wednesday January 7, 2026
The facility, located within the South Leeward constituency, was upgraded under the Volcanic Eruption Emergency Project and funded through a loan from the World Bank, administered by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. The project was executed by Gibson's Construction Limited, with design and supervisory services provided by Stewart Engineering Limited.
