NEMO HOSTS VIRTUAL DAMAGE ASSESSMENT & NEEDS ANALYSIS (DANA) CONTINUUM TRAINING - FEBRUARY 15 -17, 2022

 

The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) is conducting a three (3) day virtual Post La Soufriere Eruption Damage Assessment & Needs Analysis (DANA) Continuum Training Workshop which commenced today 15th February, 2022 via Zoom.

This workshop is organized in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA). Over sixty (60) persons representing agencies involved in the Damage Assessment process as well as members of the Damage and Needs Assessment Sub-committee of NEMO are participating in this workshop.

 

The objectives of the training are:

  • To enhance understanding of the DANA Continuum and the application at the national level. 
  • To train a cadre of persons from different sectors to implement the different stages of the DANA Continuum at the national level.  This includes Rapid Assessment, Initial Damage and Human Needs Assessment, the Detailed Damage Assessment and other areas. 
  • To raise awareness of the importance of pre impact data analysis.

 

The main goal is to strengthen the Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis process in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and to build capacity at the national level for the implementation of the DANA process. At the end of the training, St. Vincent and the Grenadines will have a cadre of persons to deploy within country or regionally as part of the CDEMA System to conduct any aspect of the DANA Continuum.
