VOLCANO ALERT LEVEL CHANGES FROM RED TO ORANGE.
The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with the concurrence of the Director of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) and on the advice of Scientists from the Seismic Research Centre, University of the West Indies, has taken the decision to lower the Volcanic Alert Level from Red to Orange.

POTENTIAL DANGER IN THE RED AND ORANGE ZONES DUE TO MUD FLOWS WITHIN RIVER SYSTEM.
According to information received from the Scientists at the Belmont Volcano Observatory, there were lahar flows within the river system in the Red and Orange Volcano Hazard Zones from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. today. Lahars are dense mixture of ash and water. This usually occurs during heavy rain which creates mudflow that destroys everything in its path as it rushes down the volcano’s slopes faster than a river.
