The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), St Vincent and the Grenadines, with support from the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) is currently hosting a National After Action Review (AAR) at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Conference Room at Diamond Estate, February 10th -14th.

The one-week AAR is being held following the impact of Hurricane Beryl on St. Vincent and the Grenadines on July 1, 2024.

The purpose of the After Action Review is to assess the overall response to Hurricane Beryl, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen SVG's disaster management system for future events. Stakeholders from various agencies of government, national and community response teams, civil society partners, and the private sector have been attending the all-day sessions to facilitate reflection, dialogue, and actionable recommendations for enhancing national preparedness, emergency response, and resilience.

The areas being examined include:
a)    Governance Mechanism and legal framework.
b)    Community Emergency Management Mechanism.
c)    The emergency response teams, personnel, and sector specific coordination.
d)    The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) central coordination.

Additionally, the timeliness of actions, resource mobilization, allocation, and national considerations for vulnerable groups during disaster periods are also being evaluated.

The findings and recommendations from the AAR will guide the development of a Consolidated Plan of Action. The plan will be presented to key decision makers at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Conference Room at Diamond Estate, on Friday, 14th February, 2025.
